Food [when available] is free, come and enjoy the company! There are plenty of people who come and just hang out for fear of being hit. (If the guy with the collapsed lung is still willing to play, you better have a pretty good excuse why not to play, though "I just don't want to" is a perfectly valid reason!) Also for free is to wear an orange vest on the field during play, to protect being shot, and watch the live battles unfold before your eyes. Who knows, someone may be kind enough to give you a couple rounds to shoot ....

> I don't have my own paintball marker? Would you have an extra?
I have 20ish extra sets I can lend out, plus there are some other enthusiasts who come and have their markers to lend. If there are more players than markers then we will rotate players in and out of action. Anyone with equipment is encouraged to bring it and show it off!

> I am concerned a bit, since it been years since I have played - and I have
> only played a few times years ago - I am not a sharp shooter or a pro.
> Should I be worried?

Heavens no! About a quarter of the people who come to this are "newbies", and the rest of us don't play on a regular basis, we just like to run around like crazies a few times a year. =) As for being hit, hands above the head and a loud "Out!" or "Hit!" will keep you from being continuously fired upon (as stated in Da Rules).

> Does it hurt?
Not much at all! After running around there's adrenalin pumping in the body, making the impacts not bad at all. Plus, the camo one wears provides an extra layer of padding. That being said, wear something thicker than a t-shirt, and eat a large steak (or some other high iron source) before playing to elevate your iron levels to reduce bruising.

> How often do you do this?
Campouts are a thing of the past now that I don't have entire weekends to dedicate to this. I do have some people over for playing only one day, between two and eight other times throughout the year, depending on my free time which is dwindling as the PhD studies are advancing.

> I want one! Where do I start?
The short answer:
$170 for a basic marker/mask/gas combo of a Tippmann 98 Custom ACT from Tippmann -or- ~$200 for the same thing with lots of bad-ass goodies + ~$10 neck guard.

The longer answer:
I use the Spyder Compact as my workhorse. Bought eight years ago, it's a simple enough marker to take apart after play for proper cleaning. The Spyder Victor is comparable and an excellent place to start for marker/gas/mask package under $100.  Though I highly recommend, for less than $200 marker/mask/gas, the stock Tippmann 98 Custom (ACT = antichop, worth the extra ~$20). It will love you for years and years of play, and you don't have to take it apart often to maintain it, unlike the ~$100 marker/mask/gas kits (hint hint, spend the extra money, you will not regret it!). Emily and I have been happiest with this setup with one modification, a rifled barrel.
The main thing to not do is buy a plastic marker, especially a plastic barrel since you can whack into a tree and break it. Plastic used in paintball markers has come a long way in the past ten years, though I still don't trust markers made of plastic, although my *favourite* marker is a Talon pump I own, which is all plastic. It's very accurate, though every time I use it I'm afraid I'm going to break on the ground or a tree.

What I Have to Offer
- Some random camo jackets, gloves, miscellaneous clothing extras.
- 20ish sets of marker/gas/mask. More will be brought by others who own their own equipment, and I am certain there will not be enough equipment for all to play at the same time, so we will rotate who plays and who sits out. I recommend Paintball Wholesalers up in Westminster (I like them + I don't know who's closer) if you would like your own set of marker/gas/mask to play all throughout the day ($15, 410.840.8669).
- Paintballs, though you will have to buy them. Prices and participation will vary. If you're new, figure spending $20 on paint. I provide 500 round bags are $10.
- A 50lb CO2 tank to refill air tanks.

What You Should Bring
- Clothes in which to get dirty, such as old boots, long sleeved jacket and long pants for protection against stickerbushes, poison ivy, and paintballs. Keep in mind blue jeans + a white shirt will make you quite visible in the undergrowth.
- A hat to ward off the lyme diseased ticks. I have some to lend, first come, first served. Again, don't wear white, your noggin will be a beacon for paintballs.
- I recommend gloves since there are stickerbushes and poison ivy. I have some to lend.
- Money for paintballs, donations, and corrupt dictators.

What You Should Expect (for first-timers)
- To have fun! All equipment and rules will be explained before starting play.

Other Notes

Here are a few things I want to say about this: I do not make money doing this. On this hobby of mine I try to break even, though I have lost and will continue to lose money doing this. I do this for fun! I love having people try new things so I offer a safe and supportive environment for first-timers, while making challenges for more experienced players. I try to have a menagerie of markers for people to try different brands and styles. I buy my paint from the store just like anyone else and only upsell a quarter or two per bag to make an even dollar amount to make it easy on purchasing. Bringing your own equipment and paint is not frowned upon! I also take care of some people's equipment who play only occasionally and let me lend it out their equipment for others to play. I don't have a mandatory field fee or rental fees like other fields do. What I do is have a list of Recommended Donations, which are the same as the rental fees Paintball Wholesalers charge, which go towards maintenance (parts, not my own labour), repairs, and buying more equipment to support the menagerie.

Huge thanks to my parents for letting us use their backyard and providing food nearly every time, my sister for refing and taking the occasional paintball to the head, and you all reading this, my friends and friends of friends, who make this possible and quite fun! =)

This paintball site is dedicated to Emily. And her Tippmann 98 Custom. =)

Donations
- $15 field fee
- $15 for marker/gas/mask (10 or so sets on hand)
- $4 for 12oz CO2 tank alone (1 or so extra tanks on hand)
- $4 for mask alone (4 or so extra masks on hand)
- $.20/oz for CO2 fill from the 50lb tank on hand
Donations good!

Discover and AMEX too!
(add 5% for fees)
Manditory if you don't bring your own (credit here or cash on the field)
Paintballs
- Good: $10/bag of 500, $40/case of 2000 (Diablo Blaze or equivalent)
- Better: $15/bag of 500, $55/case of 2000 (RPS Marballizer or equivalent)
- Best: $20/bag of 500, $70/case of 2000 (Evil or equivalent)
I will have a virtually unlimited number of Good paintballs, buy in advance if you want Better or the Best ones. If you don't know what the difference is between Good and Better paintballs, you only want the Good grade of paintballs.
And if you specify a colour a month in advance, I will try my hardest to accomodate. =)
I will also buy back unused paintballs if you don't use them!
